Sourced directly from one of the world’s largest known and highest quality deposits, our supply of freshwater DE is taken from the ancient freshwater lakes of Mount Garnet, Far North Queensland.
Our supply of Diatomaceous Earth is Food Grade, 100% natural and chemical free, and has been certified by the Queensland Government as containing an undetectable amount of crystalline silica (less than 1%) . It has no additives and has not been subject to any manufacturing process other than crushing and bagging. It is only sun-dried and has not been subject to any artificial heat treatment – making it safe to use in the home, garden and on the farm.
Our regular grade is ideal for using with pets and livestock. It is milled to a maximum particle size of approximately 2.00 mm and so is a mixture of powder and larger ‘crunchy’ particles. It is also excellent for use with insects, such as ants.
Dogs
A daily inclusion of silica in food strengthens teeth, bones, tendons and improves the function of organs such liver and kidneys. This leads to improved metabolism with resultant health and vitality increase. In clinical observations of feeding dogs over 35 lbs. (15 kg) 1 tablespoon/day and under 35 lbs. 1 teaspoon/day of diatomaceous earth, within seven days allova disappeared from stools.
Diatomaceous Earth controlled Ascarids (Toxacara canis), Hookworms (Anclyostoma caninum), and Whipworms (Trichuris vulipis).
Chickens – of all farm animals chickens respond the fastest to silica supplementation with differences in size and alertness that can be expected within 1 week.
Trials have demonstrated show It is beneficial to dust nesting boxes regularly with Diatomaceous Earth for controlling external pests like mites and flies and their larvae.
Controlling Internal Parasites: Diatomaceous Earth’s method of parasite control is strictly mechanical and as a result the parasites cannot adapt, develop resistance or become immune. The microscopic edges of the diatoms pierce the outer structure of the parasites exoskeleton causing dehydration which results in death and passes harmlessly through the digestive system.
Clinical testing has shown that high quality, food grade Diatomaceous Earth will rid even the largest of animals, such as cattle, of internal parasites and will continue to control both adult and egg forms for as long as a silica product is part of their feed regime. ** Important: excludes heart worm
*** Further precaution should be taken with animals affected by exposure to the intestinal parasite Barber's Poll (Haemonchus contortus) due to it's fast progression if infection occurs, continuing daily dose is recommended in these situations and/or discuss with your veterinarian about products available for additional protection
It is recommended that a daily dose is given for the first 30-60 days (dependent on use) and to 3-4 times thereafter for ongoing maintenance of internal parasites
While no DE produced in Australia has been certified for human consumption, many people do choose to eat DE, seeking to obtain the many reported health benefits. If you choose to consume DE, spread it in a baking tray and heat in a moderately slow oven of 140-160 degrees (not hotter) for about 30 minutes to ensure it is sterilised.
